How Audio Books Can Help Engage Your Children In Their Learning

It is always a challenge to get children to sit down quietly and read a book, especially kids who are just beginning to read or those who have difficulty in reading, audio books is a good way to integrate fun and interaction in learning.

Parents can now have an easier time in teaching their kids with audio books.

Educational experts have agreed that books with narration are easier for kids to absorb and remember. Kids enjoy story telling and could remember stories if they heard it from someone.

Many schools have now taken audio books not just to the homes of their students but also in the classrooms.

Here is how audio books can help engage children in their learning

1. Parents can have an ease of mind when they send their kids to school. Kids will no longer be crying their way to school. With audio books, children will enjoy going to school as audio books provide interesting books that arouse children’s interest and attention. Children tend to be more attentive if there is a third party talking and speaking to them. With narration and sound effects, it is sure to get children to remember information better.

2. Audio books can make learning more entertaining than conventional teaching. Your children will be excited and keen to learn more from exciting audio books.

3. Using audio books to teach kids in school allows teachers to have more time in planning more well-thought and interesting programs and teaching materials for your children

4. Children with reading difficulties can listen and follow the books simultaneously. This could promote their interest in reading and allow them to learn as they listen. Most importantly, popular stories that children love, will be very interesting for them to listen to.

5. Audio books save money for the parents and storage space for the school as teachers don’t have to buy and store up tons of books for a classroom, just one audio book can be played for all the students in the classroom.

6. Children don’t particularly like printed books as much as they do audio books. It feels much more comfortable for them to “listen” to an audio book than “read” a book.

7. Audio books can also help children deal with the pronunciation of certain words that they would have difficulty with when merely reading them. By hearing the pronunciation and seeing it printed, they are able to remember and pronounce it better.

No wonder, audio books is getting more popular among parents and teachers. They can easily assess children books at the popular audio bookstore like Merlion Audio Bookstore for a wide collection the all time classic stories such as Alice in Wonderland,Hans Christian Henderson’s Fairy Tales, a wide collections of Chronicles of Narnia and a series of fairy tales such as the Three Little Pigs, Tom Thumb, Goldilocks, The Emporer’s New Clothes, Hansel & Gretel and many more.

Cut your Audio Learning Time in Half by Speed Listening

Did you know you can speed-listen to 60 minutes of audio in 30 minutes or less with full comprehension using special speed-listening software? You can even go faster with a little practice and blast through an hour of audio learning in 20 minutes or less saving you hours and hours of time.

If this is your first exposure to the concept of speed-listening to your audio learning you may be a bit skeptical like I was. You may also have doubts speed-listening to audio learning materials will work for you too. I can’t blame you.

The first time I heard about speed-listening I was skeptical and doubtful it was for real too because the only faster audio I ever heard was Alvin and the Chipmunks at Christmas time or when as a kid I sped up the old record player for kicks!

Using FasterAudio speed-listening software is the secret to effective speed-listening because it speeds up your audio without changing the pitch so the voices sound normal just faster. This is why you can accelerate your audio 2X and faster with full comprehension.

What’s cool about using the FasterAudio software is you can convert your audio files into an accelerated format Mp3 which is easily transferred to your iPod or any Mp3 playing device. This lets you maximize your audio learning time whenever you are away from your PC or Mac running Parallels.

Getting Started With Speed-Listening

When I first tried FasterAudio speed-listening software I set the audio to 125% of regular speed. After just a few minutes at 125% I accelerated my audio learning up to 1.5 X of regular speed. Not only was I able to listen to the accelerated audio with ease, but was doing so with full comprehension. It was easy and fun. Really amazing.

Then I did the math. At 1.5X regular audio speed you save 20 minutes for every 60 minutes of audio learning, but I wanted to listen faster. After about 1hr of listening at 1.5X I went to 1.75X of regular speed. It took another hour or so to get used to listening at 1.75X speed with ease.

My goal was to cut my audio learning time in half so over the next few days I used FasterAudio to slowly increase the speed of the audios I was listening to. It wasn’t long before I hit 2X speed and reached my goal. Then I heard about people who speed-listen at up to 4.5X of regular speed. This motivated and challenged me to keep pushing my listening speed faster and faster. I have since reached 3.5X of normal listening speed and continue to push myself.

That said, 1.5X of normal speed is quick and easy to reach and will save you hours of valuable time if you listen to audiobooks, podcasts, home study programs etc.

Bottom line… your first goal should be to get comfortable with 1.5X (most people have no trouble reaching that) and then work at doubling your listening speed so you cut your audio learning time in half. Then keep pushing yourself to go faster.

You can check out FasterAudio speed-listening software at this link and experience speed-listening for yourself live on the website.

Mark Benda is the creator of FasterAudio speed-listening software. After learning about speed-listening, Mark decided to design and create a speed-listening software program which you can use to accelerate your audio without it sounding like a chipmunk and literally cut your learning time in half. To learn now you can cut your learning time in half by speed listening with FasterAudio at speeds of 200% or faster, with full comprehension click on www.FasterAudio.com now before you waste any more of your time listening to audio at regular speed.

Before You Start Learning Electronic Sound Synthesizer

The most commonly used electronic instruments are synthesizers, so-called because they artificially generate sound using techniques such as additive, subtractive, FM and physical modeling synthesis to create sounds. Synthesizers are used for the composition of electronic music and in live performance.

A brief history

The first electronic sound synthesizer, an instrument of awesome dimensions, was developed by the American acoustical engineers Harry Olson and Herbert Belar in 1955 at the Radio Corporation of America laboratories at Princeton, N.J. The information was fed to the synthesizer encoded on a punched paper tape. It was designed for research into the properties. Dr. Robert Moog introduced the first practical commercial modern music synthesizer with his Moog synthesizer. This instrument used a series of tone generators with keys that would adjust the pitch of the tone generators. The first digital synthesizers were academic experiments in sound synthesis using digital computers.

A brief discussion on electronic sound synthesizer

The word synthesis means to produce by combining separate elements. Thus, synthesized sound is sound that a musician builds from component elements. A synthesized sound may resemble a traditional acoustic musical timbre, or it may be completely novel and original. This characteristic is common to all synthesized music. Electronically-generated music has not only generated its own totally separate field of music, but several sub-genres. An electronic music synthesizer is capable of creating sounds that are quite unlike any other instrument known to mankind. Creating and using electronic synthesizers and related sound equipment involves considerable aspects of electrical engineering, physics, and math. Using synthesizers to create music is a field where all of these seemingly disparate branches of knowledge come together to produce what is quite possibly the most elegant fusion of art and science currently known to humanity.

Important features of Electronic sound synthesizer

Some of the most important features which are responsible for creating heavenly music from an electronic sound synthesizer are Oscillators, Filters, Envelope, Amplifier and Equalizer.

Oscillators – An oscillator is simply a circuit that generates a repeating electrical wave, like a sine wave, square wave, or saw tooth wave. The oscillator is sometimes called a VCO. An oscillator on a synthesizer usually allows varying the pitch, volume, and shape of the wave to make the tone sound different.

Filters – A filter is a processing element that does something with a sound, usually eliminating part of a sound. The filter on a synthesizer is sometimes called a VCF. It might eliminate sounds of a certain pitch or volume while allowing other sounds to pass through.

Envelope – The envelope generator is most commonly used to control the amplitude or volume of the sound, by routing it to the control input of the VCA. It is even used to control the timbre of the sound, by routing it to the control input of the VCF.

Amplifier – The amplifier can raise, or lower the height of the waveform, thereby raising or lowering the volume of the sound. To control the volume of a sound in the synthesizer, the signal is passed through an amplifier circuit.

Equalizer – An equalizer is a tool which allows you to selectively amplify or attenuate certain frequency ranges of sound.

How Audio Books Can Help Engage Children In Their Learning

There’s no denying the fact that most people hated reading as kids. Only a few kids enjoy reading, especially if there is an alternative.

Ironically, kids enjoy story telling and could remember stories if they heard it from someone.

Audio books have now made it possible for children to get better access to materials that they don’t like reading.

Of course they must still read, but reading any material and still hearing it makes the reading much more interesting.

Many schools have now taken audio books not just to the homes of their students but also in the classrooms.

Experts in the educational sector have agreed that audio books in the classrooms go a long way to help students more than normal books, especially those students who are just beginning to read or those who have difficulty in reading.

Here is how audio books can help engage children in their learning

1. Using audio books to teach children in school gives them “variety”. Instead of just listening to their teacher, they benefit from the change that comes with “another” teacher.

2. There are specific audio books prepared with children in mind that are not only educative but very entertaining. These types of audio books make learning much more fun than normal teaching.

3. Using audio books to teach kids in school will give the teachers more time to prepare for the next lesson. The teachers can play the audio book for the children while doing something else.

4. For children with reading difficulties, they can slowly follow the readings from audio books until it feels comfortable to read.

Simply following an audio book to read along while looking at the printed material in front of them can increase their learning skills by a very high percentage.

5. Audio books save money. Instead of buying dozens of books for a classroom, just one audio book can be played for all the students in the classroom.

There are certain audio book rental services on the Internet, such as Jiggerbug.com that allows teachers to rent as many audio books as possible at very low cost. This is much more cost effective than having to buy even a single audio book.

6. Audio books that tell interesting stories are very helpful in times when the children have become too tired to read and study.

Most importantly, popular stories that children love, will be very interesting for them to listen to.

7. Children don’t particularly like printed books as much as they do audio books. It feels much more comfortable for them to “listen” to an audio book than “read” a book.

8. Audio books also have children deal with the pronunciation of certain words that they would have difficulty with when merely reading them. By hearing the pronunciation and seeing it printed, they would better grasp it.

All in all, most children find it a great deal of fun listening to a lesson on audio, rather than having to read it. That is why children spend a lot of time watching movies, rather than reading.

No wonder more schools are embracing the technology of audio books for teaching their children. And with services available freely on the Internet now, it is now more cost effective than ever.
