Broadband Sound

Broadband (shh) sound: The bbs-tek backalarm uses a pleasant broadband sound instead of the irritating single frequency sound of outmoded reversing alarms

The source of bbs-tek sound is instantly locatable. bbs-tek sound is directional, is localised in the danger zone and dissipates rapidly. As a result, No more complaints of noise pollution. No more reversing alarm disconnects by irritated drivers, Instant location of the reversing vehicle, no more head-spinning and confusion Broadband sound is known colloquially as “white sound”.

broadband sound is known colloquially as “white sound” or “white noise”. The “white” description derives from white light which is composed of all the colours in the spectrum. White sound is, similarly, composed of all frequencies in the audio spectrum. White sound has the unique characteristic of its source being instantly locatable. White sound does not have to rely on high sound pressure (decibels) in order to be heard because, being multi-frequency, competing single frequencies cannot mask it.

As a result a white sound alarm is equally effective at lower decibels than outmoded single-frequency alarms causing far less noise pollution and being just as effective as a narrow band beeping alarm.

White Noise Machine ? Achieve Better Performance and Focus With Sound

Many people have heard of white noise but few have a really, good understanding of what it is and why it is used. White noise in simple terms is a combination of all frequencies of sound audible to the human ear blended together. (Just as white light is composed of all frequencies of light). White noise sounds like a hiss, similar to radio static or the sound of rushing air when traveling by airplane.

Although there are many uses for white noise, we often see corporations using a white noise machine or system to “quiet” a department. For instance, if a company had a department full of computer operators, all clicking away at the keyboard, the sound would become overwhelming and distractive. The same would be true for a customer service department with employees all talking to customers on the phone. By using a white noise generator, sound is greatly minimized.

Millions of people around the globe struggle with getting a good night’s rest. For some, the problem is environmental, such as rooms that are too light, uncomfortable bedding etc. while for others it is merely a problem of tuning out the day’s events. Regardless, a white noise generator produces a sound that is calming. While perfect for everyone, people who work nights and sleep during the day or those in large, noisy cities, really benefit from a white noise machine by being able to block outside traffic and other unwanted sounds.

Okay, so how do white noise generators work? Random sound frequencies are produced in order to blend with the unwanted environmental noises in order to essentially mask them. The special sound created is one to three decibels above a normal conversational voice, which actually makes it nearly impossible for a human being to realize when white noise is being used. Additionally, white noise machines generate random audible frequencies that are distributed equally over the entire range of human hearing, which is what allows them to be so effective.

You will also find white noise machines used in unique situations. For new parents, getting a full night’s sleep is rare. The calming sound of white noise can often help your baby to sleep better. There are many types of sound conditioner on the market today some of which can also produce natural sounds such as waterfalls, surf, or even simulate a mother’s beating heart. Some sound conditioners offer five, ten, or more options of natural sound combined with white noise in order to create a soothing and relaxing environment that is conducive for sleep. Also, white noise generators offer a portable and compact privacy solution. Most machines are volume adjustable, and best of all, they are an easy and affordable remedy to an otherwise noisy problem.

There are many different companies that sell white noise machines. Be sure you purchase your machine from a reputable company, one that can guide you to the appropriate size and type that is suitable for your needs.

Auto Sound Systems – GreAT Deals, Quality Brands

So you want to juice up that pathetic factory sound system, but the price of some auto sound system equipment is making your wallet shiver in fear? Don’t worry, with a little bit of smart shopping you can put together a system that will blow your factory sound away, without spending your entire savings to do it.

Online Shopping

If you are willing and able to install the system yourself, and have listened to a bunch of systems and gotten an idea of the brands of auto sound system parts you want, you can find great deals shopping for your parts online. Even if you don’t want to do the installation yourself, the Internet is still a great place to shop for the best deals on name brand equipment.

Shopping Locally

Again, if you are willing to do the installation yourself, or are looking to upgrade your existing system, you can find good deals locally a lot of the time. Even though auto sound system shops often have higher prices than online stores, a good bit of the price of any auto sound system is the installation. You can often get away with paying retail if you do the install yourself, and get a great deal on a killer sound system in the process. The main advantage to shopping locally is that you can listen to the different systems before you buy, which is just not possible when shopping on the Internet.

Hit the Pawn Shops

If you both have a good idea of the brands of auto sound system equipment you want and are willing to purchase used equipment, you can shop around your local pawn shops. You can find some really bargain-basement prices in these shops, and usually any gear that a pawn shop buys is tested and working. All auto sound system components, from head units to speakers and amplifiers, are available at pawn shops all over.
The best total prices are still only obtainable by installing the system yourself; if you are not confident in your abilities, it can still be worth it have even used parts professionally installed since it can be much easier to put different parts in once the wiring and brackets are all in place, making it more of a plug and play operation.

Name Brands at Good Prices

While everyone would like to have top of the line JL Audio competition speakers or the like, the prices on the very best auto sound system components can be astronomical. You can easily spend over $500 on a single speaker at the very top end. But there are plenty of quality midrange products from companies like Kenwood, Alpine, and JVC. Stay away from the absolute bottom of the barrel parts, though, as they can often sound worse than your existing factory system You do not want to spend a bunch of money only to have it sound the same or worse than your existing system. The midrange products are usually the way to go for the best price vs. performance. And with some careful product selection and shopping, you can build a kicking system for under $400 if you do the installation yourself.

Get A Good Sound System With Out Breaking The Bank

Despite popular belief, it is quite possible to get a great quality auto sound system even if you are operating on a limited budget. I completely understand your skeptical glances and the comments and grumbles that being on a budget means different things to different people. I can tell you without a doubt that you can get a really nice sound system for your car, truck, or SUV even if your budget is less then $300.

There are several things you can do as a savvy consumer that will help drive the price of the wonderful sound you seek to a bare minimum if you use a few tips, tricks, and techniques, in order to do so. First of all, the competition in this market is fairly fierce. As a result of that you will find that prices tend to be pretty competitive from one shop to another and that your best bargains are usually going to be found online. Search around online and find the absolute best bargain you can find on the auto sound system of your dreams.

Once you’ve found the lowest online price, get on the phone with local retailers. Many local stores understand the need to compete on a much larger scale. As a result they are often willing to match prices and even through in perks such as installation or freebie upgrades in order to sweeten the deal. Once you’ve gotten a few upgrades from local markets, continue calling around and let them compete with one another for your business. Take into account the value of the freebies and upgrades to you. If you really have no use for the bobble head hula girl then skip that offer and go for the one that offers an upgrade on speakers or an extended warranty thrown in for free. Make sure that the upgrades are really worth something to you. Also consider the value of the upgrade verses the price and go with the best bargain.

Another truth when it comes to purchasing an auto sound system is that you do not have to buy the ‘best known’ or biggest name brand in order to get a great sound and excellent quality. Spend your money where it matters most to you. Sometimes you are paying for nothing more than the name attached to a product. I’m a huge fan of Bose. I love the sound and have yet to find a product that can offer the quality of sound at a lower price. That does not mean I would not jump at the chance to buy an untried brand if the sound in the display equaled the quality of sound I can get with a Bose sound system. In fact, I have held onto an SUV for 10 years because I’m not ready to give up my sound system and my truck still runs. A Bose system is not a budget investment, but you can find bargains that are similar and sound wonderful. In other words, don’t become a name brand snob if you don’t have to.

In reality, there are many discount dealers you can find both online and off that will be more than happy to hook you up with a great set of sound for your car, truck, or SUV at a really great price. It simply takes a little leg and phone work on occasion to find them.

Good Quality Sound System

I for one can’t imagine entering into my daily commute without the sound assistance of a good auto sound system. Music in the morning is as necessary for me as oxygen and caffeine. If I live without any of those above my day is already up and running with wrong foot first. Music is a very important part of any given day for someone like me. My wake up call in the morning comes in the form of my favorite radio station and from that point on I have music as my companion for the vast majority of my morning routine. That is of course with the exception of children and husband and some of their more insistent demands for food, money, and last minute homework crisis. I will gladly take my music and tea most mornings and skip the drama.

The point of all this is that I am not alone in my morning preference. If I were there wouldn’t be so many variations of the music driven alarm clock. Today you can even have CD player alarm clocks in order to get you up and running to your favorite tunes. Of course this brings me to an important point. A good auto sound system will sound much better than your morning music wake up call. Most alarm clocks will not have the best quality of sound. They are designed for minimal space, minimal intrusion, and to be annoying enough that you will get up (eventually) and turn them off. If the music is good and the quality even better, most of us, can manage to incorporate the music into our dreams and go right back to sleep.

While you do not want your auto sound system to necessarily put you to sleep you do want it to be enjoyable to listen to. You are after all most likely shelling out a good portion of a month’s salary in order to pay for it. Some may say this is extravagant but many people spend more time each week in their cars than they do in front of their televisions and are much more inclined to spend a great deal more on big screen or LCD televisions for their homes. I like being surrounded by nice things and music is one of those things. A great auto sound system is one way that I can bring music into my life day in and day out. I am quite certain that there are others out there just like me. Just like the alarm clock radios, there are many wonderful auto sound systems on the market today competing with one another for a slice of the music lover’s pie. That would not be the case if there were only a select few of us who enjoyed great music.

The trick is always going to be finding the sound you like at a price that is just as delightful as the sound they provide. A good auto sound system is not an impulse buy. This is something you consider carefully, shop around, and compare prices on before you make the decision to purchase. Also consider things such as free installation and how they will affect the overall price when the time comes. It could very well be that the same sound system will cost a different amount at several different stores, if one of those stores offers free installation (depending on the cost of installation) it may be a much better deal even if the cost of the system is slightly greater than those at the other competing stores.

There are many things to consider when purchasing an auto sound system for your vehicle. The most important of those things is how well you like the system you are purchasing. This is your money after all and you should spend on the systems that sounds best and offers the most features that you desire.

Getting Your Auto Sound System Progessionally Installed

One of the biggest decisions that people need to make when deciding on an auto sound system is the decision of whether or not have the system professionally installed. On the one hand, it will add a pretty hefty fee to the bottom line but you just might find that the fee is well worth the expense you’d have to pay to fix any mistakes you might make along the way. The truth of the matter is that installing an auto sound system is not an easy task and requires no small degree of skill and concentration. I’m not sure about you but I’m in short supply of both when it comes to technical matters such as this and would much rather not risk my car, which will cost a lot more to repair if I make a mistake than the couple of hundred dollars that professional installation might require.

When it comes down to it there are many benefits to having your sound system installed by professionals. Below you will find a few of these benefits.

1) Sound systems are huge investments. Most automobiles come equipped with a marginal sound system at best. Many people will spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars on upgraded materials for sound systems but then skimp on installation. The result is a sound system that is very unlikely to provide the actual quality you paid for. Professionals train for months, even years, in order to learn how to properly place and install each component in order to achieve the best possible sound inside your automobile. If you do not have the training you cannot possibly expect the same results. Protect your investment by making the extra investment of a professional installation.

2) Saving money in costly repairs. This is especially important when installing in dash auto sound systems. You will be pulling out pieces and parts and may even need to make adjustments to the available space in order to get a new sound system to fit in the space allotted for a sound system in your automobile. Professionals not only have the skills to handle these types of adjustments without damaging your dash or automobile but also the tools that might make the difference between making a tiny adjustment and a huge mess. Don’t risk the need to pay for factory repairs from your carmaker to fix the mess you’ve made of your automobile.

3) Sound systems aren’t cheap. For this reason alone you need to make sure you aren’t putting your brand new sound system at risk by foolishly attempting the installation for yourself. Even if you purchase the extended warranty on your system you may find that the warranty is void if you did not have a professional installation performed. If you have a professional installation the warranty is generally in tact if problems are found with your equipment during the installation process. In other words, having a professional installation is another layer of security for your investment.

4) Someone else is responsible for goof ups. This is probably the best reason on earth to spend the extra money on a professional installation. If something goes wrong during the process, it is someone else’s fault and you do not have yourself to blame. Even better than that, someone else is responsible for fixing the mistake and covering the cost of any damage that may have occurred. This reason is enough for me to add another hundred or so dollars to my investment and take the time to have a professional installation. If something goes wrong on a thousand dollar piece of equipment or a thirty plus thousand dollar automobile, I want someone other than myself to yell at. But hey, that’s just me.

Sound systems greatly affect how much we enjoy our time in our cars, trucks, and SUVs it only makes sense to get the best sound system we can afford to improve the quality of the time we spend in our automobiles. Don’t ruin the investment by skimping on the installation, it could cost more in the long run than you realize at the time of the purchase.

How Sound Insulations Work

Sound insulations are insulating materials that work to reduce the noise that enters a room from outside the home or from other rooms. These materials can be installed during construction, or later as a home improvement project. Products that are blown, such as foams, are easier to install in existing homes.

You can repair insufficiently insulated areas yourself, or hire a professional to do the job for you. Installing most of these materials is a fairly easy DIY project for the skilled homeowner. Some home improvement stores offer weekend workshops to show you how.

How Sound Insulations Work

Sound is transmitted when vibrations move through the air, floors, ceilings and walls. The sound waves move from one room to the other, or from the outside of the home to inside. This includes traffic noise or the sound of noisy neighbors. Insulation is a good sound absorber and is effective at minimizing the noises entering a room.

Soundproofing consists of using a barrier of some sort to prevent sound from entering the space that has been sound proofed. There are two basic ways to achieve this reduction in sound: noise absorption and noise reduction.

Approaches to Sound Insulations

There are a few approaches to noise level reduction or noise absorption. A variety of materials can be used for either purpose. Noise reduction can be accomplished with the use of space between rooms. The more space, the more room for sound waves to dissipate. If you increase the distance between the source of the noise and the space, you will reduce the noise that enters the space.

The other method, noise absorption, is also referred to as dampening. With this method, the sound waves are converted to heat within the insulation. This increases energy efficiency, while reducing sound. It also suppresses the echoes and reverberation of sound waves.

Materials for Sound Insulations

Rock Wool Insulation is made of all natural materials, such as diabase or basalt. It is used for insulating the home and absorbing sound. There are other benefits to this type of insulation. It is fire resistant and helps control condensation. In addition, it is resistant to the growth of bacteria, mold and mildew.

Mineral Wool Insulation is available in either batts or loose fill. The material is stiff and brittle. Mineral wool is not only sound proof, but is fire resistant as well.

Fiberboard Insulation is installed under the drywall in your home. This material reduces sound waves through the walls and ceilings. It is effective for reducing outdoor noise from entering your room. This material is an excellent choice if you live in a city or for homes located on a busy street.

Acoustical Wall Coverings can be attached directly to the drywall. The best material to use in these wall coverings is polyester. This material is best at absorbing the sound waves that you are trying to eliminate.

Cork Squares look like floor tiles, but are made with cork board. The cork has a self sticking backing that is easy to apply to the wall surface. If you like the look of the cork, you can leave it this way. However, if you want it to match the decoration in your house, you can cover the cork with wallpaper.

Clinton Maxwell distributed a lot of articles for the http://www.soundproofing-tips.com internetsite. The author is publishing about sound insulations and other areas in this field.

What is Surround Sound and Why Do You Want It?

Whether you are an audio novice or an experienced technophile, this article is for you. Let’s take a few minutes to review the basics of surround sound, and the principles behind it. If you are new to surround sound, this will help you to understand the concept. It will also refresh the memory of those already in the know. These are the basics of sound.

Monophonic sound is single channel and unidirectional. Basically, this means that your audio is all filtered down into a flat single channel. All elements of the recording are mixed down into one source, thereby seeming to originate from the same source no matter where you are standing in the room. This is old school, kids.

Stereophonic sound is reproduced through two channels and is considered superior to monophonic sound. You can tell stereophonic sound, because different sounds originate from either speaker. This type of sound gives one the sense of being there during the recording. The best example of this is listening to a recording of the symphony, where different band members are located in different parts of the room. The strings are over here, and the horns are over there.

Surround sound was first pioneered by Dolby in the early 1970’s, and first used in movies such as “Tommy” and “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”. The Dolby process encapsulates four channels of audio; left, right, rear, and phantom center. The reason it is called phantom center is because it is essentially a mix of the left and right front channels. This gives the listener the impression of being surrounded by sound, hence the name surround sound.

Dolby surround sound has evolved considerably in recent years. Dolby 5.1 is bar far the most common. Dolby 5.1 is similar to traditional surround sound, but it is further broken down and processed into more distinct channels. Dolby 5.1 increases the range of sound by adding stereo rear sound as well as a dedicated subwoofer channel. This results in a far superior surround sound experience. You not only hear surround sound, but you feel it, too!

Technology is ever changing, and the marketplace offers many surround sound options. This article is not complete by any means, and only serves as a primer on the basics. Check out your local electronics superstore for the latest technology.
